What exactly is a session?

A session refers to one recorded interaction with a participant, whether moderated or unmoderated. One recording with one participant counts as one session. Previewing or testing your setup does not count toward your session limit. Sessions expire when your trial ends or when your contract term concludes.

What's the difference between moderated and unmoderated sessions?

Moderated sessions enable you to engage with participants live, observe behaviors in real time, and ask follow-up questions as needed. They're suited for interviews, discovery, and usability studies. Unmoderated sessions allow participants to complete tasks independently using instructions you define, ideal for scaling prototype and website tests without scheduling live calls.

What are the benefits of your participant panel?

How does the free trial work?

The trial runs for 60 days and includes up to 5 sessions (moderated or unmoderated) to evaluate Lookback in your workflow. You'll have access to all features except exporting sessions and launching Recruit Rounds. When your trial ends, access to your sessions will pause until you activate a subscription. Recordings are retained for 30 days post-trial.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

If you cancel your subscription, you won't be able to access your sessions from the dashboard without a valid plan. Lookback retains recordings for 90 days if you've been on a paid plan, and 30 days if you've only used a trial. After that period, sessions are permanently deleted. If you resubscribe before deletion, you'll regain access automatically.
